Austin, Texas

I’d worked on an illustration of Austin, Texas before but felt I’d like to draw it again. The first piece was made using blue liner and, while I quite liked the aerial view, I wanted to include the capitol building in the next piece:

So I made a pencil draft of a great street view which showed some of the downtown buildings and the capitol in the centre and it was going OK until one of my kids decided it needed to be ‘more bluey’. The edited illustration is on the right, just in case it’s not clear:

I started a new pencil draft and worked on the overall illustration in line before completing the piece in watercolour:
